Who we are and how to contact us

Life Without Borders is the website and book series by Francis Pena at yourlifewithoutborders.com. For questions about this website or your privacy, email Francis@yourlifewithoutborders.com.

Your cookie choices

You can accept all, reject non-essential technologies, or choose individual optional purposes. Optional settings are off unless you actively enable them. Closing the banner, scrolling or continuing to browse does not give consent. You can use this website without accepting optional technologies.

The Cookie settings control in every footer lets you change your choices or withdraw consent. After advertising consent is withdrawn, we stop further Pixel use, request Meta to revoke consent, remove the Meta cookies we can access on this website and reload the page to unload the Pixel. Withdrawal does not undo processing that took place before you withdrew it. Cookies belonging to another website cannot be deleted by this website; you can manage them through your browser and Meta account settings.

Essential storage

We use the first-party local-storage entry lwb-consent to remember and respect your choices. It records the purposes you selected, your decision time, the notice version and an expiry time. The choice is valid for up to 180 days and is not an advertising identifier. An expired record is ignored and removed on your next visit; browser local storage can retain the physical record until then or until you clear it. We ask again when it expires, when you clear browser storage, or when a new notice version changes the relevant purposes or providers. This duration is our review interval, not a legal time limit. If browser storage is unavailable, choices apply to the current page and you may be asked again on your next visit.

Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager

With your Analytics consent, we load Google Tag Manager, provided by Google, to run our configured Google Analytics 4 website analytics tags. Only analytics tags configured for this website may run under this choice. Where analytics tags are enabled, these can measure page visits and usage, book-page views and book-link clicks, outbound clicks to Amazon, Etsy and Google Play Books, and whether a planning calculator was viewed, started or completed. These events can send page URLs, browser/device information, identifiers and limited event context such as a book or calculator name to Google. We do not send calculator amounts, calculator results, contact-message text or email addresses through these custom events.

Google Tag Manager is not loaded before you allow Analytics. Advertising consent is a separate choice for Meta Pixel. Google advertising consent signals remain denied in this integration. We pass the Analytics choice to the container through Google consent signals and reload the page when a loaded container's consent changes. On analytics opt-out, we also remove Google Analytics cookies accessible to this website. If Google Analytics is configured, cookies such as _ga may have a default lifetime of up to two years; actual cookies, retention and transfers depend on the tags and account settings. See Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab). Google may process information outside the UK. This optional processing is based on consent.

Advertising and Meta Pixel

We use the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms, to understand how visitors interact with our website after seeing or clicking advertising on Facebook or Instagram. Where you consent to advertising cookies, this may allow us to measure advertising performance, create audiences and improve the relevance of our advertising.

Meta Pixel is not activated unless you consent to advertising/marketing cookies.

When enabled with your consent, Meta Pixel sends page-view events, book-page views, book-link clicks and outbound clicks to Amazon, Etsy and Google Play Books, along with related browser, device and network information to Meta. Book events include the public book title and identifier; shopping-link events include the retailer and destination domain. A shopping-link click does not tell us whether you completed a purchase on Amazon, Etsy or Google Play Books. This can include the page URL, referral information, IP address and advertising identifiers. We do not configure advanced matching or send your calculator inputs, contact-message text or email address through the Pixel.

Meta may use first-party cookies such as _fbp (browser identification) and _fbc (advertising click information, where applicable), commonly lasting up to three months. Actual cookies and retention depend on Meta’s current configuration and your browser. Meta’s own processing, retention and international transfers are explained in the Meta privacy policy (opens in a new tab) and Meta cookie policy (opens in a new tab). Meta may process information outside the UK. Advertising processing through this integration is based on your consent.

Retailer links and review traffic

For Amazon links, our own hosting service can use its locally configured IP-country database to return only an approximate country code to your browser. This selects a verified local book listing where available, with the original Amazon.com link as fallback. The website makes no third-party country lookup, stores no country or IP history in browser storage and does not send the country code to Google or Meta. Amazon buttons use the verified regional listing automatically when a country code is available. An ordinary click made during lookup waits briefly, then opens the direct regional product or the original US fallback. Modified or new-tab clicks use the link already available. IP-based location can be wrong, especially with a VPN. Country selection does not enable analytics or advertising. The retailer controls its own store, editions and availability. Review pages on chatgpt.site and local development previews suppress Google Tag Manager and Meta Pixel, even if optional choices are selected, so review activity is not sent through these integrations.

Information you choose to send and planning tools

If you email us, your email address, message and any information you include are used to respond and handle the enquiry. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or steps you request before entering a contract where relevant. We retain correspondence only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any related obligations. The planning calculators run in your browser; this version does not transmit your entered amounts or results to us or to Meta. The newsletter form in this version does not send or store subscriptions.

Hosting and external websites

Our hosting and email providers may process technical information needed to deliver and secure the service or handle correspondence, such as IP addresses, request information and messages. We use such information for service operation, security and responding to you, based on our legitimate interests. Hosting log retention depends on the provider and service configuration.

Amazon, Etsy, Google Play Books, Facebook and other linked websites operate their own services, checkout and privacy policies. A link is not an embedded advertising tracker: those websites receive information when you visit them. Purchases take place on their platforms; this website does not collect payment-card details.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your personal information, correction or deletion, restriction of processing, or portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent for optional technologies at any time through Cookie settings. To make a request about information we hold, contact the email above. For information held by Meta or another external service, you can also contact that provider.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would welcome the opportunity to address your concern first.

Changes to this policy

We update this notice when our practices change. A new optional purpose or provider will require fresh consent before that technology is activated.
